In  Black History Today, legendary composer, pianist, bandleader and composer, Edward Kennedy "Duke"  Ellington died on May 24, 1974 in New York City.  Duke Ellington's renowned orchestra thrilled audiences worldwide for decades.  He was born in Washington, DC on April, 29, 1899. In 1973, the year before his death, Duke Ellington appears is in concert below in Munich, Germany.
