Congressman Ron Dellums
Former United States Congressman and Oakland, California Mayor Ronald Vernie Dellums was born on November 24, 1935 in Oakland. Dellums served thirteen terms representing California's 9th Congressional District from 1971 to 1998. He represented his home town of Oakland as it's mayor from 2007 to 2011. Following two years in the marines, Dellums received his A.A. degree from Oakland City College in 1958, his B.A.from San Francisco State University in 1960 his M.S.W from the University of California, Berkeley in 1962.  Dellums died on July 30, 2018 in Washington, DC at age 82.
