One of the twentieth century's most prominent leaders in Black Nationalism and Pan-Africanism, Marcus Garvey died on June 10, 1940 in London at age 52.  Garvey was the founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League.  He was born on August 17, 1887 in Saint Ann's Bay, Jamaica. Marcus Garvey Speaks This audio file is one of Marcus Garvey speaking.  It is a studio recording of Marcus Garvey's recording entitled "Explanation of the Objects of the Universal Negro Improvement Association".  It was recorded in July of 1921 in New York City.
