One of the most prominent representatives in the Congressional Black Caucus, Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas was born on January 12, 1950 in Queens, New York. In 1972 Lee graduated from Yale University and later received her law degree from the University of Virginia in 1975. She began her initial term as a representative from the 18th district of Texas in January of 1995. In congress Congresswoman Jackson Lee has served on many committees including Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security, and Judiciary Committees. She has held various positions with the Congressional Black Congress including 1st Vice Chair.
