Clara Ward was born on April 21, 1924. Ward was a famous American Gospel Singer who inspired millions as a talented singer and arranger. One of her songs, “Surely, God Is Able” was one of the first gospel songs to have over a million records sold. The original “Ward Singers” was founded by Ward’s mother “Gertrude Ward” in 1931. Other notable songs by Ward were “How I Got Over”, “Packin’ Up” and “Travelin Shoes”.
